After BJP’s P Muralidhar Rao was dragged in a controversy accusing him and eight others of cheating and forgery, the national party general secretary has gone on to clarify that the allegations made against him are false and politically motivated.
Hyderabad: A FIR was filed against BJP’s national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao and eight others accusing them of cheating a man of Rs 2.17 crore. Rao and the others allegedly promised the man of a nominated post in the Central government.
However, Muralidhar Rao refuted these claims and said that he has nothing to do with the case.
A case of cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and other relevant IPC Sections was registered against Rao and eight others.
Based on a court-referred complaint lodged by the victim's wife, a case was registered on Tuesday against Muralidhar Rao and eight others on charges of cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and other relevant sections of the IPC, the alleged victim’s wife said.
She alleged they took Rs 2.17 crore after promising that her husband would be appointed chairperson of Pharma Exil, police said.
Muralidhar Rao took to Twitter to say, "Regarding the FIR filed - have nothing to do with the present dispute. The FIR involving me reportedly is sequel to a private complaint in a court by those who actually are facing criminal charges in the same matter."
In a statement Muralidhar Rao said that the allegations were proving to be harmful to his reputation. He also iterated that the timing is politically motivated and being made to malign his image ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

Eswar Reddy had allegedly said that he knows a person called A Krishna Kishore, the "shadow" of Muralidhar Rao, who was capable of getting a nominated post in any department of the Central government, the woman said in her complaint.
The complainant alleged that she and her husband were initially reluctant to pay the amount, but they did so out of pressure.
She also said that when they asked for updates on the appointment, they were given no answer.
