The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and some parts of Maharashtra, which are likely to receive heavy rain
Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued an 'orange alert' for Mumbai and Thane today. Areas like Sion, Parel, Dadar and Byculla received heavy rain early this morning.
Mumbai witnessed waterlogging in several parts of the city on Wednesday (September 4) after hours of rainfall in the city. A day ago Mumbai Police had alerted the public of heavy rainfall and had urged them to take precautions.

IMD has predicted maximum and minimum temperatures to most likely remain around 29 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively. However, the rain is likely to subside by Thursday to just 'heavy rainfall', and by Friday and Saturday, it will further reduce to light rains, IMD said.
Meanwhile, as heavy rains continue to lash Mumbai, several flights have been delayed at the airports in the city. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation posted this on Twitter, "In wake of IMD’s warning of heavy rainfall for the rest of the day too, the schools shall remain closed today. The Principals of the schools where students are already in, are requested to take all precautions and ensure that the children are sent back home carefully and safely (sic)."
