Mumbai: Mumbai Police have issued a lookout notice against CPI(M) Kerala secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's oldest son Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan. Binoy has been accused of rape by a former bar dancer.

The lookout notice has been published at airports in the country in an attempt to prevent the accused from leaving India, and to ascertain if he had already fled the country.

A 33-year-old woman on June 13, filed a complaint stating Binoy had raped her on the fake promise of marrying her. Her complaint also stated that Binoy had been sexually assaulting her for over 10 years (2008-2018) and that she has an 8-year-old child of whom Binoy is the father.

The victim also presented fresh evidence against Binoy before media. The victim produced the birth certificate of her son, in which Binoy is listed as the father. Meanwhile, along with the birth certificate of her son, the former bar dancer also produced her passport and bank details, which has Binoy named as her husband.

Earlier, Mumbai Police had travelled to Kannur and later Thiruvananthapuram to arrest Binoy but returned empty-handed.

Last year, a Dubai-based company reportedly approached the CPI(M) politburo and alleged that Kodiyeri's son cheated them to the tune of Rs 13 crore. The company told the party politburo that if they do not take steps to ensure that the money is returned, they will initiate legal proceedings in Dubai, including approaching Interpol.

Later, Binoy produced a 'clearance certificate' from the Dubai Police to prove that he did not face any criminal case in the UAE. The certificate, dated January 1, 2018, vouches for Binoy’s "good conduct and behaviour" till the issuance date of the certificate. Another document from a Dubai court also indicated that Binoy had no cases pending against him.
