Preeti is a fruit seller from Agra, Uttar Pradesh. She has attained a celebrity status after interacting with the Prime Minister in relation to the SVANIDHI scheme

Bengaluru: Preeti is a fruit seller from Agra, Uttar Pradesh. A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to her in relation to the SVANIDHI scheme or the PM Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi Scheme.

As the PM spoke to her, she has become nothing short of a celebrity. In fact, district magistrate Prabhu Singh also paid her a visit.

Now as she has become more and more popular, the inflow of customers has certainly increased, thereby augmenting her fruit sales.
It is not just about fruit sales. People have also begun asking her about the SVANIDHI scheme and how it benefits street vendors.

As reported by Times of India, she informed the Prime Minister, “During the lockdown, we felt like we were drowning. With the PM SVANidhi loan I was able to restart my work and set up a fruit cart.”

Life was indeed miserable for Preeti as she is the only breadwinner of her family. Her husband helps her out in the business. They have four children to take care of, three daughters and a son.

The website further quotes her thus: “The lockdown period was very difficult for us. With no source of income, we had spent all our savings to survive the lockdown period.

The future looked bleak. Meanwhile, I came to know about the PM SVANidhi scheme and I applied for it. The Rs 10,000 loan that I received helped me in resuming my business after lockdown was gradually lifted. Now, I have some steady earning and I have already started repaying the loan. Now, I am able to take care of my family.”

She further promised the Prime Minister that she would promote digital transaction as exhorted by him.

She said, “I am feeling motivated after interacting with PM. It was a moment of lifetime for me. I will be promoting the use of digital payment, as suggested by PM Modi.”
