The stranded pilgrims made a video, reporting the entire incident and shared it with their relatives in Hyderabad. They also sought a rescue operation from the state government.
Hyderabad: More than forty people from Telangana have been left stranded for the past four days near the Nepali town of Hilsa, located in the country's northwest, bordering Tibet, after a travel agency with whom they were registered abandoned them while returning from their pilgrimage to Kailash Manasarovar.
According to reports, the pilgrims belonging to two different regions in Telangana state registered for a pilgrimage with the Southern Travel agency for the Kailash Manasarovar and had begun their journey on June 13.
In a video, one among the stranded passengers claimed that they visited Kailash Manasarovar and later the travel agency brought them to Hilsa, a border area which is close to Manasarovar, and left them abandoned.
"The Southern Travels, who brought us here, has left us abandoned. They are not responding to our calls for the past four days," a stranded passenger said in the video.
The pilgrims further said that this area, where they have been stranded, is surrounded by hills and are gradually falling sick. Especially women are facing a lot of problems.
"I request the state government to help us get back to our homes safely," he added.
Reacting to this, Ramachandru Tejavath, Telangana Special Representative in New Delhi reportedly said that he would take the initiative to take care of pilgrims who are left stranded in Hilsa.
He further said that the ideal way to take part in the Yatra is with the assistance of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) while the ministry had flagged off its first batch of Kailash Manasarovar Yatra on June 11.
