BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari and Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress alliance. “NCP-Shiv Sena-Congress was trying to control Mumbai through the backdoor”, said Prasad.

Mumbai: Reacting to Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress slamming Devendra Fadnavis on staking claim to form government in Maharashtra, BJP in turn questioned its former alliance partner. "When Shiv Sena broke a 30-year- old alliance and sided with the opposition, wasn't that a murder of democracy?" the party questioned.

Speaking to media, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that throughout the election campaign, Devendra Fadnavis was projected as Maharashtra chief minister by the BJP- Shiv Sena alliance.

“The prospect of Devendra Fadnavis for the CM's post played a vital role in the winning of Shiv Sena candidates in Maharashtra,” Prasad said.

Ravi Shankar Prasad also said that "There is no confusion on mandate. People want Fadnavis as their chief minister."

Mumbai is the financial capital of India and Maharashtra is a big state. NCP-Shiv Sena-Congress was trying to control Mumbai through the backdoor, he added.

Prasad said that BJP will prove its majority within the deadline given by the Governor. The Maharashtra Governor has given BJP time till November 30 to get the necessary numbers.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari said, "I had earlier said anything can happen in cricket and politics, now you can understand what I meant."

Earlier, slamming the BJP, Ahmed Patel had said that they have crossed limits of shamelessness. Reacting to the same, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated, "Press conference of Congress is hilarious - main concern seems to be abt “limits of shamelessness” - ironical from a party that set the gold std in shamelessness trying  a brazenly opportunistic, mandateless govt with Shiv Sena."
