When asked if joining hands with NCP leader Ajit Pawar was a mistake, former CM of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis said that he would speak the right thing at the right time

Mumbai: BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had to step down as the chief minister of Maharashtra as NCP's Ajit Pawar tendered his resignation from the post of deputy chief minister.

Ajit Pawar had claimed that all 45 MLAs from NCP are supporting BJP which led to Devendra  Fadnavis forming the government. But everything fell apart as Ajit Pawar resigned making Fadnavis claim they do not have the numbers.

When asked if joining hands with Ajit Pawar was a mistake, here is how Fadnavis reacted.

Fadnavis said that he will not tell anything now. "I will speak the right thing at the right time.”

Currently, Ajit Pawar has returned to NCP that is forming the government along with Shiv Sena and Congress in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is all set to become the chief minister of the state and will take oath on December 1.

Ajit Pawar is said to be taking charge as the leader of the legislative party (NCP) and sources claim that he is likely to be given the position of deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.

President's rule was imposed on Maharashtra on November 12 as no party had the majority, after Shiv Sena broke away from BJP demanding chief minister's post and equal Cabinet berths.

On November 23, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the chief minister after President's rule was revoked at 5.47 am with Ajit Pawar as the deputy CM. Pawar who had claimed the support of all 54  NCP MLAs backed out leaving Fadnavis government in the lurch.
