Maharashtra, Haryana election result: Live updates of fate of 2 states

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, "Before 2014, BJP was always a junior party of the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. For 50 years, no chief minister was able to complete the five-year term. Devendra Fadnavis got the opportunity to serve the entire five-year term. Maharashtra and especially Mumbai contribute immensely to the country’s economy. Political stability is important there."

Union home minister Amit Shah addressed the gathering at party's headquarters in Delhi. "Under Modi ji’s leadership, BJP’s expansion and India’s development is guaranteed. I would like to congratulate Modi ji for this victory. I would also like to congratulate Devendra Fadnavis and Manohar Lal Khattar for their victory in Maharashtra and Haryana," Shah said. 

Taking to Twitter PM Modi thanked the people of Haryana and said, "I thank the people of Haryana for blessing us. We will continue to work with the same zeal and dedication for the state’s progress. I laud the efforts of hardworking BJP Haryana karyakartas, who toiled extensively and went amongst people to elaborate on our development agenda."

Buoyed by his victory from Worli, Aaditya Thackeray held a presser today and urged members from other parties to come together for the betterment of the society. He also urged seniors from other political parties to guide him  
 

JJP leader Dushyant Choutala has decided, if sources are to be believed, to go with the BJP in Haryana. 

 

Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiva Sena chief has said that the people have given a reality check. 

He said, "People of Maharashtra have given a reality check. People have kept democracy alive. People of Maharashtra have given a reality check to all parties. One thing is for sure that for the next 5 years, people in power would have to work with full credibility and responsibility. Who will be the chief minister, this question is very important. We have decided on a 50-50 formula, we decided on 144 seats each. Whatever formula was decided, according to that we will take steps with full transparency. We will decide who will be the chief minister after talking to the Delhi leadership."

Amid growing reports that the Shiva Sena might place more demands in the coalition meet, Devendra Fadnavis, CM, Maharashtra will hold a press conference at 4: 30 pm 

Dushyant Chautala says, "Counting of slips from a VVPAT is underway. As soon as I get certificate, I'll discuss with everyone, hold a meeting with MLAs tomorrow & decide the future course of action. Too early to say anything.I believe state wants change & JJP will bring it."

As per the official trends by the Election Commission, BJP is leading on 39 seats, Congress on 33 seats out of the total 90 seats in the state.

Chautala leads from Uchana Kalan while Naina Singh leads from Badhra and Ram Kumar Gautam leads from Narnaund. With the results from Haryana pointing to a hung Assembly, according to early trends, Chautala may emerge kingmaker.

BJP crosses the half-way mark of 46 in early trends, as per data provided by C-Voter. The ruling party was ahead in 50 seats, Congress was leading in 15 and Others in 4 seats at 8:50 am .
 

Till about 8.30 am, the BJP has taken the lead in both the states. In Maharashtra, the BJP is leading in 63 seats of 93 where counting had begun. In Haryana, the BJP is leading in 40 of the 53 seats where counting has begun. 

Celebrations break out in Maharashtra. The party has planned sweets, rallies, music bands and big banners congratulating leaders.
