New Delhi: If initial trends suggest anything it's West Bengal that has clearly been saffronised. The surge has reached its pinnacle with the BJP leading in 20 seats. To put things in perspective, BJP won just two seats in 2014, even when Modi wave swept the country.

Even the 'bed-tea' comment seems to have cost Moon Moon Sen dear. Babul Supriyo is way ahead of the TMC candidate Sen. In fact, after first round Sen got just 68 votes while Supriyo was leading by 14, 952 votes.

The key BJP names that are ahead:

1. Kalyan Choube

Constituency: Krishnanagar

2. Babul Supriyo

Constituency: Asansol

3. Arjun Singh

Constituency: Barrackpore

4. Shantanu Thakur

Constituency: Bongaon

5. Deboshri Chowdhury

Constituency: Raiganj

Raiganj was the last hope for the left where from Mohammad Salim was fighting but even here the initial trend suggests a decent lead by BJP.

If initial trends hold true, BJP is poised to get a vote share of 40% is West Bengal that is a substantial jump from the 17% vote share in 2014.
