After attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa, King Charles III and Queen Camilla made a low-profile arrival in Bengaluru on October 27. This marks the 75-year-old monarch's first visit to the city since ascending to the throne, though he had visited multiple times as Prince of Wales.
A source close to the development confirmed to The Indian Express and Times of India that the focus of their stay at the Soukya International Holistic Health Centre (SIHC) in Whitefield is relaxation and rejuvenation.
Arriving discreetly at Bengaluru’s HAL Airport on Saturday night, the royal couple travelled directly to SIHC without any formal reception by local authorities. Founded by Dr. Isaac Mathai, SIHC is well known for combining traditional wellness practices, such as Ayurveda, yoga, and naturopathy, with personalized treatments. The center has previously hosted King Charles on multiple occasions, with his current visit reportedly being his ninth.
During their stay, the couple has engaged in a variety of wellness activities, including morning yoga sessions, therapeutic treatments, meditation, and leisurely walks around the Soukya campus. A dedicated staffer has been attending to their needs, ensuring a customized experience aligned with the health center’s holistic approach.
In a first of its kind move for King Charles as monarch, this secretive wellness retreat highlights his interest in alternative medicine and traditional Indian therapies. The stay, expected to conclude on Wednesday, allowed the royals to unwind amid their busy schedules and prepare for upcoming official duties.
