Killing of Hindu leaders: NIA raids 20 locations at Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka

The raids are in connection with the murder of special sub inspector Wilson, who was murdered by an Islamic State operative in act of revenge killing, National Investigation Agency (NIA) sources told MyNation. Further, the NIA is also investigating a case in which the ISIS operatives had planned attacks in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. 

The National Investigation Agency is conducting raids in over 20 locations  in South India in connection with an Islamic State related case.

The raids are being conducted at Cuddalore, Neyveli, Chennai, Salem and other small towns. Raids are also being conducted in Kerala and Karnataka. The raids are in connection with the murder of special sub inspector Wilson, who was murdered by an Islamic State operative in act of revenge killing, National Investigation Agency (NIA) sources told MyNation.

Further, the NIA is also investigating a case in which the ISIS operatives had planned attacks in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The Delhi Police had arrested 3 ISIS operatives, Khaja Moideen, Syed Ali Navas and Abdul Samad. They were arrested for the murder of Hindu leader, Suresh Kumar in 2014. The NIA took over the probe last month.

During the probe, the NIA learnt that this group had targeted several Hindu leaders in South India. They had identified several Hindu leaders, police men, judges and lawyer and were planning on eliminating them. 

It was also found that these persons had planned on launching attacks in various parts of the country. Their primary agenda was to target Hindu leaders and cause communal tension in the country. 

These persons are highly radicalised on the violent extremist ideology of the ISIS. They were radicalised through the speeches and videos of Sri Lankan ISIS leader, Zahran Hashim over social media platforms. Inan earlier raid at Coimbatore, the NIA had seized laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards and 14 incriminating documents relating to radicalisation, recruitment and planning of terror strikes.
