Kottayam: Neenu, the fifth witness in the Kevin murder case will give her statement in Kottayam court, Kerala.

Trial of the Kevin murder case began at Kottayam principal sessions court on April 24. The main witness Aneesh gave his statement in court and identified the seven accused among the 14.

All accused in the case allegedly came dressed in white to confuse the witnesses on Wednesday. Hence, witness Aneesh failed to identify Neenu’s father. So Neenu's statement may be crucial in the case.

In May last year, Kevin P Joseph, the 23-year-old, was brutally butchered by a gang of 14 for marrying 20-year-old Neenu, who is from a wealthy family in Kerala.

Kevin was in a relationship with Neenu, but she couldn't convince her parents because they were worried about Kevin's financial status and that their “prestige was at stake”.

A day after he was abducted, Kevin's body was found floating on the river on May 28. His head, eyes and internal organs were severely injured. Kevin and Neenu were married for three days and were forced to live separately for their safety.

Soon, Neenu had complained to police stating that her parents were involved in the crime. Her parents were eventually arrested.

Neenu is currently living with Kevin's parents and pursuing her studies.

In a similar gruesome case, 24-year-old Pranay was hacked to death in front of his wife Amrutha allegedly by her father at Miriyalagudda in Telangana. Pranay was a Dalit and Amrutha's family was against their marriage. Amrutha complained against her parents and got her father Maruthi Rao arrested and is waiting for justice.
