Muhammed Muhasin, a Keralite who reportedly joined ISIS three years ago is reportedly killed in Afghanistan. The death of the youth was communicated to his family through a WhatsApp message.
Malappuram: A Keralite from Malappuram, who joined ISIS in 2017 is reportedly killed in Afghanistan. The killed youth is identified as Muhammed Muhasin from Edappal, Malappuram in Kerala.
According to reports, the death of the youth was communicated to his family through a WhatsApp message. The Malayalam message says, “Muhasin has become a martyr, he was martyred in an American drone attack in Afghanistan.”

Sources say, Muhasin was an engineering college dropout. He left his family informing them that he is moving to Bengaluru. Afterwards the family was informed that he is living in Dubai. After this the family didn't have communication with Muhasin.
Muhasin is among those Keralites who went to join the IS three years ago. In 2016, it came to light that 23 persons from Kasaragod left for Afghanistan to join ISIS. From that time, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered nine IS-related cases in Kerala.
In a similar incident, another leader of an ISIS module in Kerala has been killed in Afghanistan in ’random bombing’ by US forces in June. Kerala’s Rashid Abdulla, who was leading the module of Islamic State recruiters from the state, was killed two months ago. According to reports, a Telegram app message found by security sleuths revealed that the IS recruiter was killed in Khorasan province.
According to the message, a total of three Indian brothers, two women and four kids were killed in the bombing.
Meanwhile, Abdulla was leading the online campaign and recruitment drive for IS. The reports also suggested that Abdulla's Telegram account was silent for the past two months.
Abdulla was an engineering graduate and it is alleged that he had led a team of 21 persons from Kerala to an IS stronghold in Afghanistan in 2016. The intelligence agencies’ report suggested that Abdulla's wife was also there in his gang. Ayesha alias Sonia, succeeded in reaching Afghanistan through UAE and Iran.
