A school teacher Nishad has been accused of writing exams for four students in the higher secondary exams. The Kerala education department has ordered the students to write the exam again on June 10.
Thiruvananthapuram: It is alleged that a school teacher Nishad wrote exams for four students in the higher secondary exams and corrected the answers sheets of 32 students. Nishad was also the additional deputy chief who holds the special responsibility of the examination.
After the Kerala Police and education department recorded the statement of the students in connection with the incident, the education department directed the students to write the exam again.
The students have been asked to write the SAY exam on June 10. Meanwhile, both the students and their parents said they would not accept the decision.
As per the government’s comprehensive probe, a team including higher secondary joint director and regional deputy director reached the school and recorded the statements of students and some teachers.
A couple of days ago the Kerala Police filed a case against three teachers (including Nishad) under non-bailable offence for allegedly writing higher secondary exams for students. Mukkom Police, Kozhikode, have filed a case against school principal K Raziya as well.
The Kerala Higher Secondary Examination Board had declared the Class 12 examination results on May 8. The examination was held in March and 3.6 lakh candidates had appeared. This year, a total of 3,11,375 students have qualified for the Kerala Plus Two board exam. The overall pass percentage stands at 84.33%. Last year, it was 88.75%.
