Kerala police arrest parents of 3-year-old after he succumbs to injuries

The Kerala Police officials alleged that the three-year-old boy was subjected to torture by his mother. Authorities have arrested the parents.

Aluva: Kerala police arrested the parents of a three-year-old boy who succumbed to injuries. The minor boy suffered a severe head injury after he was allegedly subjected to torture by his mother. The boy died at Aluva, Kerala on Friday.

According to sources, the boy's parents hail from Jharkhand and Bengal. The couple and their alleged child have been residents of Kalamassery for less than 20 days. The doctors who were treating the boy said that a brain injury was caused after the boy was hit with a wooden object.

The mother, who hails from Jharkhand, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

The mother was earlier charged under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act (punishment for cruelty to child).

This is the second such incident that has occurred in a month.

A seven-year-old boy, who had been battling for his life at a hospital after suffering physical assault at the hands of his stepfather, succumbed to injuries on April 6.

The incident occurred while the boy was trying to protect his younger brother from being beaten up by Anand, his stepfather. The seven-year-old boy's lungs were damaged, and he was put on life support at Kolenchery medical college hospital. His younger brother sustained injuries on his chin and teeth.

Kerala Police arrested Anand for allegedly assaulting two boys on March 29. According to sources, Anand has been charged with various sections of IPC, including 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
