Kerala mother-daughter suicide case: Suicide note recovered, mother blames mother-in-law for the tragic deaths

The Forensic department found a letter from the wall of the house, which was allegedly written by Lekha, the mother, who committed suicide, along with her daughter Vaishnavi. It is allegedly said that certain family problems were the reason for the death and Lekha's mother-in-law had assaulted her in the name of dowry. 


Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police took Chandran, his mother Krishnamma, relative Santha and her husband Kasinathan into custody in relation to the suicide of the mother-daughter in Neyyattinkara.

The mother has been identified as 40-year-old Lekha while the daughter has been identified as 19-year-old Vaishnavi.

This comes after the forensic department found the suicide note from the house where the duo committed suicide.

It is also surprising to hear that in the letter, Lekha has not mentioned anything about the bank loan.

Earlier, it was said that the mother and daughter committed suicide, fearing the confiscation of their house by bank officials. The family had taken a loan from the Neyyattinkara branch of the Canara Bank. The duo set themselves ablaze on Tuesday. The daughter died on the spot and the mother was rushed to the hospital, but she succumbed to injuries. The incident took place at Marayimuttam near Neyyattinkara.

Fifteen years back, they had taken Rs 5 lakh from the Neyyattinkara Canara bank for house construction. They have repaid Rs 8 lakh until now. A seizure notice was issued to them asking them to repay the remaining Rs 4,80,000. Relatives said that the family was not in a financial situation to repay the loan amount, so they committed suicide.
