Kerala: Human body parts found in bucket; 2 arrested in Kottayam

Kottayam: Kerala Police have arrested two persons in connection with a case, where human body parts were found abandoned in a bucket in Kerala’s Kottayam. The arrested are identified as Sunilkumar and Chrismon Joseph.

The probe conducted by the Gandhi Nagar Police found the body in a bucket. The body was given for funeral rites from a private hospital. The body is that of an 80-year-old patient who died at Kalathipadi hospital in Kerala.

The incident came to light after some natives of the area found the abandoned bucket closed with plasters on the morning of August 18. The natives immediately informed the police. Soon the police rushed to the spot and sought Kottayam medical college forensic department’s help, suspecting human body parts.

The forensic department said that intestines, liver and kidney were found in the bucket. According to sources, the police are investigating how the body was stuffed into the bucket.

In a similar incident, in June, a four-year-old girl who was missing, was found murdered, and her body was stuffed into a bag which bore the name of a rice company and was placed inside a water bucket with her feet up. The police suspect that she was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
