Kerala high court rejects anticipatory bail plea of official who let teacher write exams for students

The Kerala high court had asked third accused Faisal to surrender before the investigation team within 10 days and ordered the investigating officer to produce the him before the court on the same day after the interrogation. 

Kochi: The Kerala high court on Thursday observed that a teacher writing exams for four students in the higher secondary and correcting answers sheets of 32 students at Neeleswaram near Mukkam in Kozhikode is a matter of serious concern. The court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of PK Faisal, the third accused in the case. 

The court had asked Faisal to surrender before the investigation team within 10 days and ordered the investigating officer to produce the accused before the court on the same day after the interrogation. 

Earlier, the Mukkom Police, Kozhikode, had filed a case against school principal K Raziya, teacher Nishad V Muhammad, deputy chief of exam centre PK Faisal.

After the Kerala Police and education department recorded the statement of the students in connection with the incident, the education department directed the students to write the exam again. 

The students were asked to rewrite the Class 12 exam on June 10. The students and their parents said they would not accept the decision. But later, the students agreed to rewrite the exam. 

The Kerala Higher Secondary Examination Board had declared the Class 12 examination results on May 8. The examination was held in March and 3.6 lakh candidates had appeared. This year, a total of 3,11,375 students have qualified for the Kerala Class 12 board exam. The overall pass percentage stands at 84.33%. Last year, it was 88.75%.
