Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa and BL Santosh, national organising secretary of the BJP met up at Karnataka Bhawan in New Delhi to discuss the Cabinet formation in the state

Bengaluru: Facing severe criticisms over no formation of the Cabinet even after a fortnight after being sworn in, chief minister BS Yediyurappa is camping in New Delhi to have a detailed discussion with national BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday (August 17).

Much before this, Yediyurappa also met BL Santosh, national organising secretary of the BJP in New Delhi to talk about Cabinet formation. The two leaders met at Karnataka Bhawan to discuss the issue.

Sources say that the two had come with their own lists. Tomorrow, the two will meet national party president Amit Shah and deliberate over the issue.

Sources also add that it was the party top brass that asked BL Santosh to meet Yediyurappa.

But the JD(S) is not happy with the development.

M Arivalagan, JD(S) state spokesperson said, “It is a shame on the BJP leaders, both at the state and national levels. Yediyurappa has been the CM for the last so many days. Yet there is no Cabinet nor a minister helping him out.”

The party spokesperson also has this to say about both BL Santosh and BS Yediyurappa.

“BL Santosh is one of the senior-most leaders of the RSS. He wants to blood youngsters while old timers feel they are better with Yediyurappa.”

The spokesperson went on to add that the high command elevated BL Santosh in order to bury the differences he had with BS Yediyurappa. In fact, he categorically stated that it was due to BS Yediyurappa’s efforts that BJP went on to win 104 seats in the last state elections.

On the issue of funds for handling flood-related activities, the spokesperson added, “As of now there is no helping hand from Central leadership. It shows the weakness of the state leaders.”

Yediyurappa and other state leaders had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today to seek funds for flood-relief works.
