Karnataka JDS state president H Vishwanath has resigned from his post. In a letter, written to JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda, he reportedly said that the coalition government is not in safe hands as the Congress has led the JDS to a massive failure
Bengaluru: Karnataka JD(S) state president H Vishwanath on Tuesday (June 4) resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda. The letter, to the JD(S) supremo, came a day after a meeting which was held in Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy's residence.
In the meeting, Vishwanath made it clear that he was considering to resign from the post as JD(S) state president, as he was concerned about candidates, who were chosen without his inputs in the recently held Lok Sabha election 2019.
The letter further said that fielding JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda from Tumakuru was a trap set for the JD(S). Unfortunately, for the JD(S), HD Deve Gowda faced a massive failure against BJP candidate GS Basavaraj.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Vishwanath said, "I have resigned from my office of state JD(S) president. It is my moral responsibility after the failure in the Lok Sabha polls. I have raised issues about the coordination committee. The coordination committee headed by Siddaramaiah, both partners should be part of it. But, presidents of both parties are not part of the committee."
After submitting his resignation to HD Deve Gowda, Vishwanath said that if the government wants him to be in the cabinet, he would. But he said he would not plead the government to provide him a ministerial berth.
