Karnataka coalition crisis: Kumaraswamy-led coalition loses trust vote in nervous nineties, BJP sits pretty at 105

Kumaraswamy-led govt loses trust vote 99 - 105. The voting took place under the Speaker Ramesh Kumar's supervision.

Bengaluru: Opposition party BJP led by BS Yeddyurappa wins trust vote in Karnataka. Kumaraswamy-led coalition lost by securing only 99 votes as against 105. 

HD Kumaraswamy seeks appointment with governor to submit his resignation. BJP MLAs, speaking to the media, expressed confidence that they would work for a better state. 

Immediately after losing the elections, BS Yeddyurappa, the CM-designate addressed the press and said that the people were fed up with the administration given by HD Kumaraswamy government and promised to deliver a governance inclusive of all sections of the society. 

Senior BJP leader Eshwarappa said that his party, under the leadership of BS Yeddyurappa, would show the whole world how to give farmer-friendly schemes and better their living conditions. 

Another senior leader Jagadish Shettar reiterated that the people of the state wanted a BJP government as the Centre too has a BJP government. He added that he would seek the advice of the high command and take the next course of action. 

Former Dy CM R Ashoka said that they were reiterating that HD Kumaraswwamy government would fall and added that Yeddyurappa would provide a clean governance, supported by PM Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah. He clarified that BJP had no role in the government collapsing and that it only imploded under its own weight. 

Interestingly, the leader also added that BJP had nothing to do with the rebel MLAs and clarified that he had not met them. 

H Vishwanath, former president of JD(S) said that the rebel MLAs had confidence that the coalition would collapse and promised that they would return soon. 

While the BJP is a picture of confidence, Congress members walked out of the House looking gloomy. On the other hand, JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda has summoned all JD(S) leaders to his house in Padmanabhanagar, Bengaluru.
