As the BJP forms government in Karnataka, it is mulling withdrawing cases against Hindu activists who have been accused of rioting during the Congress regime.
Bengaluru: MyNation has learnt from highly placed sources in the BJP that, close on the heels of Tipu Jayanti celebrations being called off after BS Yediyurappa took over as the chief minister, the BJP government in Karnataka is planning to drop cases against Hindu activists who are involved in various cases across the state during the previous Congress government.
Two BJP MLAs KG Bopaiah and Roopali S Nayak have written a letter to the chief minister to withdraw cases which were filed against Hindu activists when they protested against the celebrations of Tipu Jayanti and the death of Paresh Mehta, a Hindu youth who was killed in Uttara Kannada in 2017.
It can be recalled that various cases were booked against 2000 youths during that time as people came out in protest.
MyNationg caught up with KG Bopaiah, the MLA who has written a letter to the chief minister. This is what he had to say:
Even UT Khader, a senior Congressmen spoke on the issue and said if they are innocent, cases must b withdrawn.
