The three accused in the Kamlesh Tiwari murder case have been sent to 14-day judicial custody. The trio were arrested from Surat and were flown to Lucknow on transit remand.
Lucknow: A local court in Lucknow late on Tuesday night remanded three alleged conspirators in Kamlesh Tiwari's killing to 14-day judicial custody.
The UP Anti-Terrorism Squad produced the accused- Maulana Sheikh, Faizan and Rashid Pathan- at the residence of the Chief Judicial Magistrate. They were arrested from Surat and flown to Lucknow on transit remand.
The judge initially remanded them to 14-day judicial custody and later, on the plea of the investigators, also remanded them to four-day police custody for interrogation. The judicial custody is inclusive of the police custody and the police custody will begin on Wednesday morning.
One of the suspected killers allegedly forged the Aadhaar card of his colleague to assume a new identity as part of his efforts to join Hindu Samaj Party. Kamlesh Tewari was the president of the Hindu Samaj party and was found murdered at his home in Naka Hindola area of Lucknow on Friday.
Probe into the killing has revealed that one of the main accused, identified as Ashfaq Shaikh had made a detailed plan to carry out the murder. Ashfaq, who worked at a pharmaceutical company, allegedly forged his colleague Rohit Solanki's Aadhar to join Tiwari's outfit.
Ashfaq Shaikh used Solanki's Aadhaar card and placed his photo above Rohit's, the probe revealed. Ashfaq allegedly forged the Aadhar to prove his Hindu identity in order to join the Hindu outfit.
Shaikh had also opened a Facebook account as Rohit Solanki, but used his own photograph as the profile picture. He then added Gujarat president of Hindu Samaj Party Jaimin Dave on Facebook who inducted him into the party.
Kusum Tiwari, mother of Kamlesh Tiwari has demanded death penalty for all the accused persons, who have been arrested.
"We are very happy with the arrest of the accused persons, they should all be hanged. I am satisfied by the government's action," Kusum Tiwari said.
A four-member team of Lucknow Police today is going to Ahmedabad seeking remand of two main accused in the case - Ashfaq Hussain Jakirhussain Shaikh (34) and Moinuddin Khurshid Pathan (27), who were arrested by Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from the Gujarat-Rajasthan border on Tuesday.
