Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan, on Sunday, announced that he would neither contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections nor the Assembly bypolls in Tamil Nadu.
According to ANI, in a function held in Chennai, Kamal Haasan said, "All candidates are my faces. I am proud of being the chariot puller than being the chariot.”
The 64-year-old also came up with a big list of promises that highlighted equal number of jobs and equal pay for women and an astounding 100% profit for farmers.
Releasing the party manifesto and the second list of candidates of Makkal Needhi Maiam, he also promised free Wifi, no toll on highways and home delivery of rations of the Public Distribution System.

Kamal Haasan’s party had released its first list of 21 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry earlier this week. That time, the actor had said, "I wish to contest, but my party cadre will have to decide." He, however, had promised that Sunday’s meeting would contain "surprises".
Kamal Haasan launched his party a year ago, and then he said that his party MNM is meant to concentrate on the fight against corruption and development of rural Tamil Nadu.
