Ex-cricketer Jonty Rhodes posted a pic on microblogging website Twitter about taking a dip in the holy Ganges and its benefits.

Bengaluru: For cricket buffs, Jonty Rhodes is an extremely lovable and reverential figure.

On the field, he was known for his fielding exploits. Batsmen would dread stepping out of the crease even if the ball was metres away from him, for his dives and throws at the stumps would leave everyone astonished and awed!

And off it, he is always known for being a good human being.

It would not be an exaggeration to state that he shares a unique bond with India.

Recently, he put out a tweet about taking a dip in the holy Ganges and added that benefits of dipping oneself in the river are both physical and spiritual.

In this tweet, he writes, “Benefits of cold water immersion in the Holy Ganges are both physical and spiritual #moksha #rishikesh #internationalyogfestival”

It’s nothing short of amazing that a foreign cricketer believes in the sacredness of the holy river and concepts like moksha!

Rhodes has also named his daughter “India” as he loves India.

Last year, the ex-South African cricketer was seen driving an SUV on Indian roads. His family had also accompanied him.

Rhodes also loves Indian food. A website quoted him as saying that he would always visit cricketer Ambati Rayudu in Hyderabad and devour some delectable food prepared by his mom. He had also wondered as to how one would remain fit after devouring tasty food. He had also added that his wife is a big fan of Indian food.

As regards his tweet, many from sports fraternity and even the film world, expressed their wonderment over his love for India and the river Ganga.

Rhodes works as a fielding consultant for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

He played his last series for his country during the 2003 World Cup.

The talented ex-cricketer is also known for his charity works.
