Jharkhand election results 2019: AJSU to join hands with the BJP?

The All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) may join hands with the BJP if the saffron party fails tantalisingly close to the majority mark.

Bengaluru: At the time of writing this article, the counting for the Jharkhand polls 2019 had finished the first hour (8am-9am).

The BJP had won 34 while the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) was sitting pretty at 7. The JMM-Congress was sitting at 32while JVM was at 3. These are initial trends and to have any solid assessment of the results, we need to wait till 1 pm.

But news sources say that that AJSU has not ruled out extending its support to the BJP.

The magic number is 41.

Jharkhand is an important state for the BJP to win because the results here will be seen as a thumbs up or a thumbs down for Modi’s schemes and also that the BJP did not do as expected in Maharashtra and Haryana.

As usual, the BJP relied heavily on the charisma of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi, with the duo holding as many as 9 rallies, while the Congress did only 5 rallies.

The polling for the state was held in 5 phases from November 30 and December 20.

If AJSU does goes ahead with the BJP, it will become interesting to see if Sudesh Mahto is given the CM’s post.

The exit polls by India Today My-Axis had given huge numbers in favour of the Congress-JMM, but the initial trends have giving a contradictory picture.
