A doctor in Kathua, who is eight months pregnant, has been actively taking part in treating covid-afflicted

Bengaluru: The viral vengeance has no doubt destroyed the lives and livelihoods of many in India, but at the same time, it has also brought to fore many noble souls who have put their own lives at risk in order to serve people in the pandemic.

Shivani Sharma, who works as a doctor in primary health care centre, in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, is a prime example, reports India Today.

Presently, she is eight months pregnant. But that does not deter her from discharging her duty.

“I really feel blessed to serve people during this pandemic. I hope we will win this war against the pandemic,” says Shivani Sharma.

“Covid situation is akin to a war. It is in a critical state in our country. It is very important for us to stay together. I want to contribute whatever I can to my patients and be available to them. That is why I have chosen to work during this pandemic,” she adds.

Though she has been put to treat non-covid patients, she treats patients with covid symptoms as well.

Fortunately, her family backs her to the hilt.

Her husband Sourav Samotra says, “She is in the last stage of her pregnancy. I am proud that I have married a lady with such care and concern”.

Locals can’t help but be in awe of this young doctor.

Baldev Singh, a local says, “I am surprised to know that she is in the eighth month of her pregnancy. I am really grateful to her”.

Amit Puttoo, zonal medical officer says, “She is very dedicated to her job and acts responsibly”.

Doctors like her have defined the way covid pandemic has been dealt with in the last one and-a-half-years. With selflessness as the guiding force, they have rendered yeoman service in treating the afflicted while putting themselves at high risk.

Kudos to them!
