Nearly 14 persons were injured in a grenade attack by terrorists outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Anantnag district of south Kashmir on October 5.
Sri Nagar: 14 people, including a policeman, were injured in south Kashmir in a grenade attack on Saturday (October 5). The incident occurred on a security forces patrol party outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Anantnag.
The terrorists hurled a grenade at security patrol personnel outside the heavily guarded complex in Anantnag town, 55 km from Srinagar, around 11am.
According to sources, the grenade was aimed at the security forces, but missed the target and exploded by the roadside, injuring 14 persons.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Soon after the incident, police officers rushed to the scene of the attack and conducted search operations to arrest the attackers. No arrests have been reported so far.
Reports suggest that a similar incident had occurred a week ago in which militants attacked a CRPF patrol party with a grenade in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar.
No loss of life or damage was reported due to the blast, and no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
