An online Form-7 was submitted to the election officials asking them to delete YSR Congress Party chief Jagan's name from the electoral lists of Bhakarapuram (134th polling station) in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh election officials received an online application to delete YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jaganmohan Reddy's name from the voters' list.
According to reports, an unidentified person had applied to delete Jaganmohan Reddy's vote from the electoral lists of Bhakarapuram (134th polling station) in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media, Returning Officer Satyam said that the Form-7 application was made submitted with Jaganmohan Reddy named as the applicant along with a photograph and other details of the leader.
The truth surfaced when the election officials reached out to the YSRCP chief's secretary, who ultimately denied submitting such an application.
Following this, the officials filed a complaint to the police personnel, who launched an investigation to arrest the miscreant.
Form-7 is used by voters to apply for deletion of their name or the name of another voter from the electoral rolls.
Over the past two weeks, the Andhra Pradesh's election officials have received nearly 10 lakh such applications and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said more than half of the claims had been rejected and that they were looking into it.
He said 446 cases were registered against people, who submitted false applications for deletion of voters.
Andhra Pradesh's ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the opposition YSR Congress Party have been blaming each other for submitting applications to delete names of voters from the rolls.
