Jadavpur University: AFSU students file complaint against Babul Supriyo

The complaint filed by Arts Faculty Students Union (AFSU) students named Union minister Babul Supriyo as the "prime accused" and also identified five other ABVP members
 

Kolkata: Students is Jadavpur University's Arts Faculty Students Union (AFSU) have filed a police complaint against Union minister Babul Supriyo. The students accused him of misconduct during the ruckus at the varsity on Thursday (September 19).

Meanwhile, the Left-leaning AFSU also lodged a complaint against five members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for assaulting students, including women, and vandalising university property.

An officer of Jadavpur Police station confirmed the receipt of the complaint.

Alleging that the minister and his bodyguards had misbehaved with students on Thursday, it read, "A file of loaded magazine was found on the site of the event, which created unnecessary panic among the students, disrupting campus life.”

Union minister Babul Supriyo was allegedly heckled in Jadavpur University on September 19. Supriyo was shown black flags and was allegedly heckled by a section of students at the University in Kolkata. 

He was visiting the place to address a seminar organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) - the student wing of the RSS. Supriyo was initially stopped from entering the campus for around one-and-a-half hours by members of two Left-leaning organisations - Arts Faculty Students' Union (AFSU) and Students Federation of India - (SFI), who chanted 'Babul Supriyo Go Back' slogans.
