These jobs span beyond the technology sector, encompassing traditional fields such as agriculture, healthcare, and renewable energy.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016, the Startup India initiative aimed to foster an ecosystem that encourages innovation, boosts employment through startups, and drives India towards self-reliance. IT and healthcare startups have been the leading contributors to job creation, with agriculture and construction sectors also growing rapidly. These sectors are not only generating employment in rural areas but are also driving innovation and the use of technology. Reportedly, startups are creating new opportunities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, empowering people in small towns and villages by leveraging local resources. This is helping to foster economic growth and self-reliance at the grassroots level.
As per reports, sectors such as renewable energy and financial technology have also experienced rapid job growth. Women entrepreneurs, in particular, are becoming more self-reliant through startups, with government schemes and initiatives providing crucial support to help them establish their businesses. Additionally, the government has launched awareness programs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, aiming to educate more people about the benefits of startups and encourage broader participation in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
