Hyderabad: Indian Railways, South Central Railway, has installed an atmospheric water generator booth at Secunderabad Railway Station. The unique atmospheric water generator is called Meghdoot.
This technology is built under "Make in India" by Maithri Aquatech. The atmospheric water generator produces around 1,000 litres per day.
Meanwhile, Piyush Goyal tweeted an informative video regarding the new initiative saying, "Conserve Water, Conserve Life: Railways introduces 'Meghdoot' device to harvest water directly from air, which is then filtered annd re-mineralised for drinking."
'Meghdoot' is installed under SCR’s green initiatives and water conservation measures. The system fulfils the safety norms of safe and healthy drinking water.
Passengers can avail the water by paying the price ranging from Rs 2 to Rs 8. It costs Rs 8 per litre with a bottle and Rs 5 per litre if passengers carry their own bottle. For a 300 ml glass, it costs Rs 3 with the container and Rs 2 if the passengers carry their own glass. A 500 ml glass of water will cost Rs 5 with the container and Rs 3 if the passengers carry their own glass.
