Bengaluru: In good news that we can all look forward to, as many as 100 high-quality ventilators are all set to come to India on June 15. These ventilators will be given to India by the United States of America.
It might be recalled that President Donald Trump had promised to donate ventilators to India to help the nation fight against COVID-19, as reported by a popular website.
It can be further recalled that Trump had tweeted thus on May 16:
"I am proud to announce that the United States will donate ventilators to our friends in India. We stand with India and @narendramodi during this pandemic. We're also cooperating on vaccine development. Together we will beat the invisible enemy!"
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had acknowledged the tweet and thanked President Trump as he replied to his tweet, "In such times, it's always important for nations to work together and do as much as possible to make our world healthier and free from Covid-19."
These ventilators have been manufactured by US-based firm called Zoll and will be brought to India from Chicago in an Air India flight. However, the website adds that the donation has been made to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and not to the Indian Government.
The website added that once these ventilators are received, there will be a small inaugural reception and then the ventilators will be distributed to the hospitals.
In the month of April, a consignment of hydroxychloroquine from India arrived in the United States, just days after New Delhi lifted a ban on export of the anti-malaria drug, seen as a possible cure for COVID-19, to the US and some other countries on humanitarian grounds.
