IMD's latest heatwave relief forecast suggests a gradual decrease in intensity across India over the next three days, with areas like Fatehpur, Sirsa, and Ganganagar experiencing extreme temperatures.
The weather office has forecast a decrease in the intensity of the ongoing heatwave across the country over the next three days. Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh topped the charts as the hottest place in the nation with a scorching maximum temperature of 46.2 degrees Celsius.
Other areas like Sirsa in Haryana and Ganganagar in Rajasthan also experienced extreme heat, recording temperatures of 45.4 degrees Celsius. Jhansi and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, along with Prithvipur in Madhya Pradesh and Bhiwani in Haryana, weren't far behind, with temperatures hovering around 45 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that although heatwave conditions are expected to persist over northwest, central, and east India, they will likely be less severe in the next three days.
In Delhi, the maximum temperature settled at 42.8 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal for this time of the year. Areas like Aya Nagar, Ridge, and Palam witnessed even higher temperatures.
Some relief was experienced in parts of Rajasthan with light rain and thundershowers reported. The Jaipur Meteorological Department Director mentioned that temperatures are expected to drop below 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days, offering respite from the heatwave.
The IMD reported a decrease in maximum temperatures over various regions, indicating a slight alleviation of the heatwave. However, certain pockets of Bihar, Konkan & Goa, and Odisha are expected to experience hot and humid weather in the coming days.
In Haryana, places like Bhiwani and Rohtak recorded high temperatures, while Punjab saw Bathinda and Amritsar reel under the heat. Jammu also experienced hot conditions but may witness relief after June 4, with the possibility of rain and thunder in the forecast.
Srinagar, on the other hand, saw a rise in temperatures, indicating warmer weather compared to the previous day.
