Hyderabad girl kills self after parents warn her to stop talking to ex-boyfriend

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old girl killed herself after her parents scolded her for taking to her ex-boyfriend. The deceased is identified as Divya Jyothi. She allegedly set herself ablaze at her house in Kushaiguda, Hyderabad on Friday.

The girl worked in a private firm near her house. She had been in love with a man for two years, before he married another woman. Despite knowing that he was married, the girl continued to be in touch with him, which her parents came to know of recently.

Her parents scolded her and told her to stop talking to him. The upset girl poured kerosene over herself and set her body ablaze when her parents were not at home.

As the smoke billowed out of her house, neighbours informed Jyothi's parents. Her parents rushed back to the house, but Jyothi was already dead. The police have registered a case of suspicious death and the body was handed over to her family after autopsy.

In a similar incident, a 29-year-old boy committed suicide in Abdullahpurmet, Hyderabad on May 29. He was preparing for backlog exams and was in a relationship with a girl. According to reports, the girl stayed away from the boy as he had pending subjects to complete. The deceased Rajasekhar had met his girlfriend in college when he had come to write an exam. The duo had a heated argument following which Rajasekhar committed suicide.
