IB officer Ankit Sharma’s cremation took place on Thursday. ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ were chanted at his funeral.

Bengaluru: Officer in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Ankit Sharma who was killed in the Delhi riots was cremated at Muzaffarnagar on Thursday (February 27).

His funeral turned out to be a massive display of patriotism as ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ were chanted.

Apart from them, ‘Shaheed Ankit Amar Rahe’ and ‘Desh Ke Shahido Ki Jai’ were also shouted.

Interestingly, ‘NRC lagoo karo’, ‘CAA lagoo karo’, also found a mention in the funeral.

Postmortem reports of the IB officer suggest that he was stabbed multiple times which lead to his death.

His body was retrieved from a drain near the house of AAP leader Tahir Hussein.

Reports state that as he came home that day, he went out to get a sense of what was happening. But he was confronted by a mob, which he found very difficult to handle.

It’s alleged that the AAP leader’s terrace was converted into a storehouse of weapons, stones, petrol bombs and even acid packets.

Several of his neighbours further alleged that a mob congregated at his terrace and began throwing stones at others.

As news reports of his role in the murder of the IB officer emerged, he absconded. Though the AAP tried its best to protect him, his position eventually became untenable.

Later in the day (Feb 27), with the media relentlessly beaming visuals of the weapons on his terrace, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was shamed into suspending him.

An FIR has also been lodged against the AAP leader.

As reported by a popular website, according to the doctors who conducted the post-mortem, "multiple abrasion, deep cuts by sharp edge objects" were found on Sharma’s body.

The doctors reportedly said that they hadn’t seen a dead body with so many wounds. The stabbing was so gruesome that Sharma’s intestines had come out.
