Hospitals to get name, fame for exceptional work under PMJAY: Health minister Harsh Vardhan

The government had recently de-empanelled 111 hospitals for fraudulent practices. Now it will give 'name and fame' to those medical units which are doing excellent work under the Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna

New Delhi: The Centre will offer name and fame to hospitals that are doing exceptional work under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY), said Union health minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday.

Recently, the government had de-empanelled 111 hospitals involved in malpractices and illegal activities. The decision was taken by National Health Authority (NHA) that is responsible for implementing PMJAY.

"We have de-empanelled at least 111 hospitals from the list after being involved in fraudulent practices. We will name and shame them on our PMJAY website. There is zero tolerance for fraudulent practices in our government," said Harsh Vardhan.

He was speaking during the event of Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Manthan organised on completion of PMJAY at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Health minister also said that the hospitals that have contributed to the health sector with commendable work under this scheme will be lauded.

Harsh Vardhhan said, "In the second year of Ayushman Bharat- we are also going to give name and fame to the hospitals which will do extremely good work in patient care. Their names, too, will be displayed among the public."

 The PMJY was launched by  PM Modi on Sep 23, 2018.

Dr Indu Bhushan, CEO, NHA who took part in the event said, "PMJAY Arogya Manthan has brought together people from all the regions with different health assurance schemes under one umbrella. This path-breaking convergence of health systems across the country is a transformational step towards ensuring health care for all in India. The scheme is instrumental in the expansion of services by linkages with other schemes. Thus, bringing about uniformity in terms of benefits received to the people across the country."

Dr Bhushan also said that till date, more than 47 lakh people have benefited from this scheme worth Rs 7,500 crore.
