Haryana: Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, former hockey captain Sandeep Singh join BJP

It is said that Yogeshwar Dutt, who was close to BJP leaders, is likely to contest the Assembly election in one of the constituencies in Haryana 
 

New Delhi: Indian wrestler who won bronze medal in 2012 Olympics and former hockey captain Sandeep Singh have joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (September 26). They were welcomed by Haryana BJP president Subhash barala in New Delhi.

Yogeshwar Dutt had met Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The meeting was held ahead of the ticket distribution for the crucial Assembly polls in the state. The Olympian was considered close to the ruling dispensation. Dutt had won gold medal in Commonwealth Games in 2014 and was honoured with Padma Shri in the year 2013.

However, Dutt had maintained that he is yet to resign from his current assignment as an officer with the Haryana Police.

Dutt had said, "I cannot join as of now, I am yet to resign from my post."

Haryana will go to polls on October 21.
