Ahmedabad: In a rare encounter, an all-women Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of the Gujarat Police arrested a criminal, Jusab Allarakha, who was wanted in 23 cases and had jumped parole almost a year back. The all-women team arrested Allarakha from a dense forest in Botad district.
According to sources, on receiving a tip-off about the accused Jusab Allarakha, Gujarat ATS, DIG Himanshu Shukla constituted a five-member team, which included four women personnel. He also asked a team of sub-inspectors Santokben Odedara, Arunaben Gameti, Nitamika Gohel, Shakuntala Mal, and Jignesh Agravat who were asked to catch Allarakha.
The team went inside the jungle after crossing hills and lay in hiding until dawn to nab the accused. "A tip-off was received after which senior officers decided to dispatch a team of female sub-inspectors to complete the task. The whole operation took almost 6 hours," a senior official of the Gujarat ATS said.
Allarakha was wanted in 23 cases in Junagadh, Rajkot, and Ahmedabad among other districts, the official said. "He was hiding in a jungle area in Botad, and it was getting difficult for the local police to nab him. His case was handed over to the ATS. A team of police sub-inspectors Santokben Odedara, Arunaben Gameti, Nitamika Gohel, Shakuntala Mal, and Jignesh Agravat, carried out the operation and arrested him," the ATS added.
PSI Santok Odedra told reporters that Allarakha had four cases of murder registered against him among other cases of loot and attacking government officials.
