370 doctors from Gujarat joined the BJP in support of the Centre's move on Article 370. The doctors were greeted by the Union minister for health and family welfare Harsh Vardhan in a video message.
Ahmedabad: 370 Gujarat doctors have joined the BJP on Sunday (September 8) in support of the Centre's move to scrap the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. In a video message, Union minister for health and family welfare, Harsh Vardan greeted the 370 doctors.
All India Radiologist Association (AIRA) president Dr Hemant Patel to Dr Kalpesh Shah, critical care expert, joined the BJP at a function organised at the Gujarat University convention hall in Ahmedabad.
A press release read that the doctors had registered themselves under the ongoing membership drive of the BJP. Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani said, "The fact that 370 doctors joined the BJP to express their support for (withdrawal of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir) scrapping Article 370 will send a positive signal in the society."
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomacy on the world forum has alienated Pakistan over the issue of Article 370.
Rajya Sabha on August 5 cleared the resolution to scrap Article 370 with two-thirds majority, along with another Bill to bifurcate the state of Jammu and Kashmir to two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Both were moved in the Lok Sabha, where the Bill was passed with ayes at 367 and noes at 67 out of the 424 votes.
