Google is limiting its AI chatbot Gemini from responding to upcoming elections-related questions. The company has already been involved in many controversies because of its AI. Experts express concerns about interference and misuse of AI in elections.

Amid all the Google Gemini and PM Modi controversy, Google is now restricting its AI from responding to all upcoming election-related questions about India or any other country. Many incidents of Gemini AI-Chatbot creating problematic responses and images have surfaced in the past months due to which the search engine giant has decided to take a step back and imply some restrictions.

Google announced this update in a blog post: "Out of an abundance of caution on such an important topic, we have begun to roll out restrictions on the types of election-related queries for which Gemini will return responses. We take our responsibility for providing high-quality information for these types of queries seriously, and are continuously working to improve our protections."

The dangers of AI are numerous and many experts are worried about its misuse in the upcoming elections in many countries like India, USA, United Kingdom, and South Africa. India is soon going to have its Lok Sabha elections. Recently, many controversies and issues have been caused by the misuse of artificial intelligence technology like AI-produced voice clips of Imran Khan to campaign for elections or deep fakes of politicians causing disorder and creating dangerous situations.

Recently, representatives of OpenAI and officials from the Election Commission of India had a meeting about AI and its interference in the upcoming election. The representatives assured the commission that the AI wouldn't be used to interfere with the election or be misused. Google Gemini has also changed its ways of responding to queries related to elections and now when asked about such things it responds "I'm still learning how to answer this question. In the meantime, try Google Search."
