Bengaluru: To help accelerate India’s digital economy, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced a $10 billion fund. On his Twitter account he said, “Today at #GoogleForIndia we announced a new $10B digitization fund to help accelerate India’s digital economy. We’re proud to support PM @narendramodi’s vision for Digital India - many thanks to Minister @rsprasad & Minister @DrRPNishank for joining us.”

Republic TV added that the top executive would invest Rs 75,000 crore in India over the next 5-7 years through a mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments.
 
On his blog, he wrote, “Today, people in India no longer have to wait for technology to come to you. A whole new generation of technologies are happening in India first.”

He also noted that people are facing a difficult moment. 
"But times of challenge can lead to incredible moments of innovation. Our goal is to ensure India not only benefits from the next wave of innovation, but leads it. Working together we can ensure that our best days are still ahead," he said. 

Earlier this morning, PM Narendra Modi held talks with the CEO in order to leverage technology to transform the lives of India’s farmers, among others. 

"This morning, had an extremely fruitful interaction with Sundar Pichai. We spoke on a wide range of subjects, particularly leveraging the power of technology to transform the lives of India's farmers, youngsters and entrepreneurs.” 

The PM also said, “We discussed the challenges the global pandemic has brought to areas such as sports. We also talked about the importance of data security and cyber safety.”
