Bengaluru: A friend in need is a friend indeed! We have all grown up listening to it. But how many of us have actually implemented it in our lives?

Well, here is a heart-warming story.

M Muthukumar, a truck driver, whose house was shattered, all thanks to cyclone Gaja has been renovated with the help of his friends, reports Times of India.

His schoolfriends joined hands to help him out.

They formed a WhatsApp group and raised a good amount to renovate the house.

“Had my friends not helped me to have a house, we could not have slept peacefully during the recent rain that lashed across the district. Ever since the cyclone damaged the hut, we hardly slept for the last two years,” says Muthukumar, as quoted by Times of India.

“Since my earning was not even enough to feed my family members, I could not even think about repairing the house. I thought of applying for a house under PM-Kisan scheme. But for that too, I should have some cash in my hand. So, we continued to reside under tarpaulin sheet,” he further said.

It was his friend Nagendran who understood his plight when he visited them once.

“I left the place without telling anything and formed a WhatsApp group and managed to add 60 of my batch mates. When I expressed my idea, all of them accepted and swung into action immediately. Altogether we managed to mobilize Rs 1.50 lakh. Within 50 days, we completed the 11x17 square feet asbestos house and handed it over to my friend’s family before Diwali,” Nagendra said.

It is people like him who actually take pains to help out fellow beings.
