New Delhi: A few days ago, an intelligence input claiming 15 ISIS terrorists have left Sri Lanka and are moving towards Lakshadweep was released.

Days after the input alert, it has been found to be 'false.' According to top sources, there has been no official letter received by Lakshadweep administration and the claims were also proved false on verification.

An Intelligence Bureau official claimed that the agency didn't issue the alert as there was no confirmation but only news reports based on a text message.

"Kerala coastal police on alert after Intelligence input that 15 ISIS activists have allegedly left Sri Lanka to move towards Lakshadweep," the false alert said.

Reacting to the news reports of the alert, the administrator of Lakshadweep, Farooq Khan held a security review meeting at Kavaratti with top officials of the Lakshadweep Administration, Commander and officials of the Navy, Commandant and Officials of the Coastguard.

"Commander Navy S.R. Das briefed that the Navy and the Indian Coastguard vessels are undertaking enhanced patrolling across all the islands in Lakshadweep. The surveillance by Naval Maritime Patrol Aircraft is also in progress, and all possible measures have been taken to prevent such intrusion in any of the islands in Lakshadweep," an official letter says which talked about the alertness of the various security forces in the matter at hand.

After intensifying the checking and patrolling in the waters surrounding the islands, the local administration of Lakshadweep did not receive any official communication from the top Intelligence Agency or any other government agency.

"When we verified, found the alert false. Unlike Sri Lanka church attack, this false alert had no specific information. The local government had pumped in various local and Central agencies including navy and coast guards after media reports," a senior official of the Intelligence Bureau claimed.
