A user on X shared about her friend's father paying a Rs 3 lakh fee for marriage proposals from rich families for his daughter. While it is not clear where he spent the money, people online have theories about it.

Every parent dreams of marrying their daughter into a loving family with deep pockets. Sometimes, they even go above and beyond to find the perfect match for their children. One such incident has surfaced on the internet, where a father apparently paid Rs 3 lakhs as a fee to get marriage proposals only from rich families.

Mishka Rana, an X (formerly Twitter) user posed on the platform and wrote, "A friend’s dad paid 3 lacs as a fee to only get rishtas from families with 200 Cr+ turnover!" She asked other users if they would do the same to secure a rich family rishta.

One user also asked in the comment about the net worth of the father and Mishka said it is in crores. One user provided an in-depth explanation for the cost, "Very normal. This fee is a filter to get crème de la crème. The matchmaker's fee is usually 1-2% of the total expense of the marriage. Example- A wedding costing Rs 1 Crore would get the broker Rs 1-2 lakh easily. This is then adjusted with the initial fee paid."

One user shared their experience and wrote, "I know about this matchmaking! My neighbour got married due to one such setup. Got married in this super rich family. But they also spent approx 3-4 crores only in the wedding!"
