Election 2019: Puthiya Tamilagam joins BJP-AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu

Puthiya Tamilagam president Dr K Krishnasamy formally declared his party’s alliance with BJP and AIADMK on Saturday afternoon

Chennai: Days after the BJP announced its seat-sharing agreement with the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Lok Sabha elections another regional party named Puthiya Tamilagam (PT) has joined the BJP-AIADMK alliance.

On Saturday, Puthiya Tamilagam president Dr K Krishnasamy formally declared his party’s alliance with the BJP and AIADMK.

According to reports, Krishnasamy said: "We have joined the alliance to contest and win over 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry."

The formal declaration comes after the BJP and AIADMK said that both the parties would fight in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls together in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Under the joint agreement, it was announced that BJP would contest five out of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and put up its candidate for the lone Lower House seat in Puducherry.

Another regional party in the fray, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), led by S Ramadoss, will support the BJP-AIADMK front in the state in the general elections.
