Effect of CAA, prospective NRC: Construction companies refuse to employ Bangladeshi labourers, forcing them to return

Sources tell us that scores of Bangladeshi immigrants have begun to return to their country, fearing a strong-willed Narendra Modi government. The passage of CAA has sent home the message that, in spite of the orchestrated protests, the government will go ahead with its implementation, along with the implementation of NRC

Bengaluru: For the last few days, we have all seen how the rampantly orchestrated protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the country have exposed the pseudos. Be it Congress or the Trinamool Congress, their only agenda is to safeguard their vote bank and ensure they cling to power perennially.

But on the positive side, the passage of the CAA has already set the ball in motion. While the CAA grants citizenship to persecuted minorities, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) deals with the recognition of citizenship to Indians.

Sources say that construction companies, especially in East India, which employ scores of Bangladeshi immigrants under the umbrella of cheap labour are feeling the pinch because of both CAA and NRC. They feel that continuing to employ the immigrants will invite the wrath of the government and are mulling to discontinue their services.

Secondly, as the protests have exposed the involvement of members of Popular Front of India and other such antisocial organisations, added to which, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s move to recover losses from vandals who have wantonly caused humongous losses to public property, have propelled the sane-thinking Indian Muslims to stay aloof from this jiggery-pokery.

This is precisely what a strong government at the centre, with an iron will to take courageous decisions, keeping in mind the interests of the society can do.

Remember! The Prime Minister reiterated two weeks ago that the NRC has not at all been discussed. Yet the Bangladeshi immigrants have begun to feel the heat and, as sources tell us, have returned to Bangladesh in thousands.

It is also important to note that, amid the hostility being displayed by several CMs, the Union home minister officials are mulling an online process to dole out citizenships under the CAA to persecuted minorities.

It is indeed checkmate, infiltrators!
