New Delhi: Sri Lanka is limping back to normalcy after the deadly Easter Sunday bombings across the island country that killed over 250 people. The external affairs ministry on Tuesday (May 28) issued a fresh advisory asking Indian citizens travelling to Sri Lanka to be careful and vigilant.

In the advisory, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the security situation in Sri Lanka is gradually returning to normal with the lifting of curfew and restrictions on social media and the opening of schools.

At the same time it said, "Indian nationals travelling to Sri Lanka are advised to be careful and vigilant."

It also asked Indian nationals requiring any assistance to get in touch round the clock with the Indian High Commission in Colombo and Assistant High Commission in Kandy as well as Consulates in Jaffna and Hambantota.

In the aftermath of the blasts last month, the MEA had asked citizens not to undertake non-essential travel to the island nation. The country was under curfew after violence broke out between Buddhists and Muslims in the region. A Muslim man also lost his life in the violence.

Nine suicide bombers carried out a series of devastating blasts that tore through three churches and three luxury hotels on the Easter Sunday, killing 253 people.

The authorities in the island country believe that a splinter group of the local Islamist outfit National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ) carried out the attacks. This was  despite the fact that the ISIS had claimed responsibility. Authorities also said that they believe that all those connected to the terror attack are either dead or under arrest.

The Sri Lankan Parliament has unanimously approved the formation of a select committee to look into the factors that led to the Easter Sunday bombings. The committee is also expected to come up with possible measures to avoid such attacks in the future, according to media reports.
