While, according to NSA Ajit Doval's son Vivek, The Caravan carrried the 'malicious' article defaming the family, it was the Congress's Jairam Ramesh who threw muck at them on the basis of the post
New Delhi: The Patiala House Court has ordered that Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and the editor, publisher of The Caravan, along with the writer of the contentious article that divided Pulwama heroes of CRPF along caste lines, to appear on April 25 after issuing a defamation suit filed against the magazine by national security adviser Ajit Doval's son Vivek Doval. This order has been issued by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal.
During the hearing, the statement of Doval's friend Nikhil Kapoor and business associate Amit Sharma was recorded. This, after Vivek Doval, filed a petition against the magazine and also senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. Doval had filed his statement before the court on January 30 and had claimed that all allegations made by the magazine were baseless and fake.
Earlier on January 30, Vivek Doval had filed his statement in the ongoing defamation case. Doval had said that all the allegations made by the magazine were later repeated by Ramesh in a press conference which is 'unfounded'. He further claimed, both of them have damaged his image among family members and Doval'sprofessional colleagues.
On January 16, The Caravan had said in an online article titled "The Company," Vivek Doval runs hedge funds in the Cayman Islands. The archipelago is an established safe place to hide black money. It was also claimed that it was registered only 13 days after the currency notes of 500 and 1000 denomination were discontinued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016.
According to the complaint, Jairam Ramesh stressed on the "baseless and inexhaustible facts" described in the article on January 17 in a press conference. He alleged that there was no validity in the facts of the article, but the full details were given in a way that misleads the reader.
