According to police officials, the woman, who looks to be at least in her 70s, did not prepare food to the couple's preferences, which set off the cruel treatment.
According to neighbors, the man and his partner frequently beat up the widowed woman. They live in Bhopal's Jahangirabad neighborhood.
The most recent attack was captured on camera by a neighbor, who surreptitiously recorded it through the couple's window; the footage went viral early on Wednesday.
The woman can be seen on the video sitting on the floor of the home, her granddaughter-in-law perched on the side of a bed, and her grandson seated in front of her. After the argument, the elder woman screams as the younger woman twists her arm. Her grandson then ties her up by cradling her in his lap and covering her lips.
After that, his wife hits her with a stick several times. After his wife keeps hitting her with the stick, the man eventually lets go of his grandma but then retains her again after elbowing her in the back.
The Jahangirabad police started searching for both of them after the video went viral and apprehended them while they were trying to flee the city.
